Like many producers in La Morra, the Corino family began as ‘mezzadri’, or sharecroppers, when Celeste Corino first moved to the area in the early 1950s. Celeste’s son Giovanni continued in the same vein while focussing on viticulture, acquiring most of the estate's vineyards. Giovanni’s grandson Giuliano began working on the family estate in the mid-1980s and runs it today. Previously, Giovanni had primarily been selling their grapes, but Giuliano was determined to start making and bottling his own wine. The 2020 vintage began with a moderate winter and a dry, sunny spring. May brought considerable amounts of rain which assisted in developing excellent water reserves for the summer. Cool nighttime temperatures and warm sunny days led to a rapid accumulation of acidity and developed fruit with optimal aromatic intensity. The 2020 vintage was very good overall, with points of excellence, particularly for the Nebbiolo grapes.
