The Grande Sendrée Cuvée takes its name from a parcel of land covered by cinders after the fire which ravaged Urville in 1836. A spelling error having slipped through in a new version of the land register, it is with an “s” that this cuvée is designated today. A reproduction of an 18th century bottle found in the Urville cellars is used and the Grande Sendrée undergoes remuage entirely by hand. A freezing winter for some nights with -20°c and abundant rainfall in the spring were followed by a hot and dry summer which allowed the berries ti ripen en that startedbadly and ended beautifully with one of the most beautiful wintages of the 21st century, for a rather small quantity.At Drappier, a historically devastating hail storm destroyed a large part of the harvest. Fortunately, the Grande Sendrée parcels, away form the main slope, were spared.55% Pinot Noir. 45% Chardonnay.
